My laptop seems to overheat and throttle while gaming

Hi, I apologize for the length of this question, but there seems to be a lot of aspects to my specific problem. I have an MSI Apache GE72 gaming laptop and recently I've noticed that my frame rates have been dropping tremendously at random times while I'm gaming on it and it doesn't seem to matter what game I play. Whenever I start up a game, I get a normal, smooth and consistent framerate for about 10 minutes or so and then it'll drop dramatically to about 10-15 fps. this drop only lasts a few seconds and then it goes back to normal. This will continue to happen every 5-10 mins and eventually I will just close the game because its unplayable. I downloaded msi afterburner to monitor my computer as it happens and it seems that both my gpu and cpu are overheating and throttling because of it (especially my cpu). My gpu will stick around 80 degrees and cpu will stick around 90 degrees after about 15-20 mins of gameplay and then it will begin to throttle when the cpu temp goes past 90(this data was taken while playing gta 5 if it matters) I have already cleaned both my fans' vents and I always make sure to play on a flat surface that allows my pc to cool properly. I have yet to buy a cooling pad for my laptop because my computer comes with a two fan system and MSI allows you to easily set your fans to full blast when you need to(that’s what I normally do when it gets hot). Now it doesn’t matter if my fans are at full blast, my fps will still drop. Also, I haven't had any problems with overheating until now and I've had this laptop for about 2 years now. So basically my question is what is causing this overheating problem? Also, what can I do to get rid of this? And, would a cooling pad solve this problem? (I understand I should probably have bought a desktop and that will most likely be my next investment, but I would really like to get this laptop working!)
Any information is greatly appreciated! Thank You!

Computer specs: MSI GE72 Apache Pro
Intel core i7 5700hq @2.7 GHz
Nvidia GTX 960m 2gb
16 gb ram
(intel processor comes with integrated graphics card but I never use it)

That is why it is a laptop. I constantly hear why is my laptop slow. All the components are designed to save power and to save power they are slow. An i7 cpu is not the same i7 cpu for a laptop. The name means nothing when it comes to laptops. Glad your found the problem........ just don't compare a laptop i7 cpu to a desktop i7 cpu.

I guess your thermal compound needs changing.
Or perhaps the heatpipes don't make contact anymore.

Either way, the whole thing has to be taken apart.

Those are indeed very high temps for your system, and throttling is likely to happen, have you tried using something like a laptop cooling pad?
