So I had a 200W laptop charger that came with my laptop. It eventually broke and I did not have enough money to purchase a new charger. My brother let me borrow his laptop charger for a laptop he didn't use. The only problem was that the charger was a 45w charger. It was really bad at charging my laptop but it worked okay for the time being. I used his charger for about a month. I later bought a new 200w laptop charger (It was the same as the old one). I plugged it into my laptop and something started to smell like it was burning. Then smoke came out of the bottom of my laptop too! Now every time I try to plug my charger into the laptop, the green light on the ac adapter turns off (It cuts off the power to the laptop). Also my laptop wont turn on. Does anyone know what it could be?

At a minimum, the charging port is fried/melted.
Realistically, the motherboard likely went with it as well. You really should never use a charger that is not specifically made for your laptop, why the replacement caused the issue is a bit of a mystery, possibly the specs were different (you can get to 200w with different amperage). Your laptop is most likely a gonner.
