how do i know if my 42 inch sharp is a "smart tv" its 4 years od and is missing the origanal remote

Solution
1. All TVs in the last years are all "Smart" in a way. They do not have to be equipped with AndroidTV or any known OSs. Even my 8 years old Sony can already go to youtube.
2. If you need certain smart functions and your TV does not have it? don't be afraid just buy nVidia Shield, RokuTV box, AppleTV, etc. there are plenty of options. I actually prefer nVidia Shield for now.

Actually, I even looked for stupid TVs but with very good image quality. Unfortunately, there is none.
I seem to be unable to find dumb or stupid 55", 4k, HDR, 100Hz (or higher) panel, QLed/VA+full-array local dimming TVs.

Any TV that have ANY ability to play Internet contents can be labeled as smart.

But who cares what labels is, what's important it has the features you need.

People fall for the label, and vendor can charge you $$ for the "smarts."

If u spend any time at all with us here, we would tell you we prefer to buy plain, non-smart TVs and get our smarts via external attachments like Rokus, AppleTV etc, more flexible, usually better performing.

Are u selling this puppy? If it can do Netflix u can call it smart.

Solution
If you google "make+model+owners manual" that will have setup instructions for network setup and the "smart" functions of the set if it has any.
Without the remote you won't be able to set that up. You will need a replacement original remote or a good universal remote like the Logitech Harmony. Many "universal remotes" won't have all the functions of the original.
