I'd hate to play the spoiler here, but neither of those two builds will be good for gaming. If you're looking for schoolwork, then it'd be safe to assume most of your work would be stored online? Even then, I'd actually recommend the first build over the second; stronger graphics, way more RAM, and also an M.2 SSD, which is WAYYY faster than a clunky 5400RPM drive.
