i had a client bring in a toshiba c55-c5241 satellite with a dark screen. i shine a light into it, and i can see everything, so, i'm thinking it's a backlight and just replace the screen. i do, and sure enough it ALSO is dark, just like the original.

i've never had this happen before. did i get a bad screen or what else could be the problem?

thank you!

Im not knowledgeable in replacing laptop screens but did come across this. If it helps in anyway, great.

https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Toshiba+Satellite+C55-C5240+Screen+Replacement/87497

Could be the screen wires. Was the whole screen replaced along with wires?

Not sure if that laptop is near enough identical to help, ifixit only has a guide for 5240 model. Was going by this https://laptoping.com/specs/product/toshiba-satellite-c55-c5240/

thank you for the great guide! i guess if the cable is bad, it also mimics a bad screen. i just never had a dark screen repair that turned out to be the cable before.
