My motherboard is asus h61m-a, which has an on-board sound card realtek alc 887. I have a 5.1 home theater hooked up with it. In realtek software under the Room Correction tab, I can't correct my individual speakers. Room correction only affects front left and front right speakers. My speaker configuration in realtek and windows speaker settings are set on 5.1. I even notice that if I mute volumes for rear and center speakers in window speaker settings, there's no effect on them, I still get sounds from them. Both Mute and Balance options only affect the front left and right speakers. Your help would be appreciated.

I finally figured out what's causing the problem. My HTS was on Pro Logic. As soon as I changed it to 5.1, I was able to do the room correction and got 5.1 surround sound. Every channel is now able to play sound individually on 'auto test' in Realtek. Thank you everyone for taking trouble to help me out.

Then how do I do room correction? Is there any alternative software? One thing worth mentioning is if I play test sounds I don't get sounds from the center and rear speakers. Normally, all speakers just work fine.

I think I am not getting 5.1 surround sound even if Realtek shows me it's set on 5.1. Stereo sound is playing through different channels. But in the manual, it says it supports up to 8 channels.
