Wifi slow on laptop but fast on mobile

Hi all,

I've recently upgraded my internet provider to ultra fast fibre (76mb as advertised).

It's had a few issues at first but it looks like we're getting there. I just turned wifi off on the router and did a wired internet speed test and averaged around the 55mb download speed...which isn't quite what I should be getting but not bad.

I run the same internet speed test over wifi on my phone and it gets around 33mb...however on my laptop I run it over wifi and I'm getting around 10mb if I'm lucky.

I've no idea what's happening here.

I was doing some research trying to figure it out and somewhere I read that I should disable the TAP Windows Adapter version 9 so I did...but it didn't make any difference. Not sure why there are so many of them either.

Please do let me know if you require anything else.

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

New to you doesn't actually mean new period. :) However, another way you can try testing the speed is to either borrow or buy an external (connects via USB) WiFi and see if that gets you better speeds. If yes, then the WiFi card in the device is going bad.

Is this the case even if the phone is going at a good speed? The issue seems to be with the laptop only.

It's a brand new router that I got sent by the ISP specifically for the upgrade.
