Laptops typically come with loads of unnecessary bloatware and startup utilities installed, which all adds up to a fair amount of RAM being used before you even start doing anything, and with only 4GB of the stuff, it's essential you get that sorted.

Check for any software you will never use & uninstall it, especially trial versions of things like Microsoft Office or MacAfee Antivirus.
Check your startup items and disable any non-essential ones, be as aggressive as possible with this, you can always re-enable them if necessary later on.

CCleaner will help you to get your startup items under control:

One word of caution: CCleaner has a "Registry Cleaner" module, don't use it, it's potentially...

Lastly, on the hardware side, 4GB RAM is the very bare minimum these days, I'm surprised you settled for that.
Get another 4GB stick if there's an empty slot for it (there should be on a new laptop).

Of course, I've no idea what you're mainly using your laptop for - - - it could be your simply trying to run a game on it that's it's just not capable of running, so everything slows to crawl.

They also probably put a slow spinning hard drive in there. I bought a new laptop last year that had a 7200RPM hard drive but still ran horribly. I installed an SSD and now it runs like a champ. Oh also, I hope you aren't planning on doing much gaming with your 920 GPU, because it's pretty weak.

Intel i3 CPUs are actually pretty decent processors. Granted there are different SKUs of i3 which can make a difference, but overall there isn't anything wrong with a fairly recent i3. Most "slowness" in computers is due to traditional hard drives. Just FYI.
