Soundbar RCA telly

Bought a sounbar for my telly. As telly is old and without optical or ARC HDMI outputs, I bought an RCA stereo cable to go with it. Set up is now as follows: both devices are plugged in, and in working order, but not together. They are connected via the RCA cables, with respective right and left audio plugs.
The sounbar is working as I play music from mobile device via Bluetooth no problem. Telly also works fine. In telly settings I’ve selected the digital output as PCM as opposed to compressed. Sound mode is stereo. Tv volume is down to zero.

No sound. I’m at a loss.
It’s a 3012 bush telly, which is why I’m using RCA cables, and a Panasonic SCHTB18 soundbar, with woofer connected to it also.

Any ideas most welcome
John.

From what I can tell, the red and white audio connection you are using on the TV is actually part of an input (such as playing a DVD player to the TV) based on the arrow in symbol on the yellow video input grouped with it.
You can use the headphone out jack right beside it to achieve what you want..you would just need to get a passive adapter to take 3.5 mm stereo out to go to the 2 RCA's for the input to the soundbar. Can't find your TV model online. If the model number of 3012 is correct, then maybe can you take a pic of all your available connections on the TV? You mention Digital output and PCM, but those are digital formats, yet you mention using analog RCA leads..so I'm confused. Also, leave the TV volume up somewhat until you finish sorting out the exact problem.

and this is the basic set up (Connection with the TV)
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/752327/Panasonic-Sc-Htb18.html?page=9#manual

...but as i don't have the 'optical out' option on telly, I'm using the R/L cable as shown in the 'Connection with other devices' setup.

I read elsewhere that it was an idea to use PCM and set telly vol to 0.
I also have dolby options all turned off
