Hello, everyone.

Received my Sager laptop from repairs May 5th, and have been receiving problems with my drivers. My games run smoothly (60-90 FPS) however, they would micro-stutter/freeze/back screen with audio, then crash. In this exact order. Sometimes, on a rare occasion I would get the message: "NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version XXX.XX Stopped Responding And Has Successfully Recovered." It's been like this for a month. No problems starting up games - the only recent game that is stable is Assassin's Creed Origins, which has only crashed once.

Recently, I've found out Nvidia's latest driver 398.11 has been giving people problems like BSOD and among other things. I've called Nivida, followed their instructions, accurate settings on Nvidia Control Panel, reinstalled the driver 7 times....I have no idea what to do.

Call my O.E.M today, they informed me to roll back which I have. I've also tried: 388.59, 391.35, 397.64 and 397.63 and it's the exact same issue every time. I was also informed to reinstall Windows 8. Is this necessary?

Sigh...I received this on the Event Viewer. I absolutely have no idea how to solve this. "The description for event id 13 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found."

Application BlackDesert64. has been blocked from accessing Graphics hardware.

Ok, then i would suggest you to freshly install windows 10 using media creation tool; it might be upgrading win 8.1 to win 10 is causing the issue.

Ah, I forgot to mention that I've used DDU on every occasion. Even the manufacturer's Nvidia driver gives me this pattern of behaviors. I even installed the hotfix 397.55 driver today. It's behaves the same every time.

Alright, just refreshed my laptop and it's installing alot of updates. Hopefully this solves the issue.

Edit: Okay. All of the updates are installed for 8.1 Windows. I noticed that in Device Manager there are 20+ Base System Devices with a yellow "!" beside it. Same with PCI Device, PCI Simple Communications Controller, Performance Counters x3, System Interrupt Controller and Xbox One Pro Controller. Should I use a driver program to circumvent this? (Driver Booster?)

Also all the vcredlists were removed. (2005-2017) I'll reinstall those as well.

Ack...Sorry about that. I didn't mean to stray away/overwhelm from the topic to make the last poster delete his post. If anyone could help, please assist. Thank you.

The problems still persist. The event viewer states "nvlddmkm has stopped working and has recovered." I haven't tried Windows 10 yet, as I detest this OS. Is there another way to solve this issue without installing 7 or 10?

Edit: The previous post was drivers from the manufacturer which I had on CDs. They are working fine. I just constantly keep getting game application blocks and nvlddmkm stopped/recovered.

Anyone have a possible solution? I even tried this on Windows 10 and I keep getting "nvlddmkm has stopped working and has recovered." Same behavior with Black Desert Online, State Of Decay 1 & 2 just freezes.

post a screenshot of device manager here for the drivers with the yellow exclamation...
And one more thing, i would advice you to go to the manufacturer's website and download all the latest drivers there. Check to see if a bios update is available... And also upgrade to windows 10....

Yeah, I installed those while I was in Windows 8.1 all the yellow exclamation points are gone and fixed. I used my CDs that came with the laptop. I also went to the Sager website and saw the exact installation as per my driver utilities and CD. After that I went through the same Nvidia driver installation process and no dice.

I then upgraded to Windows 10 and did the same thing + TdrDelay QWORD "20" and TdrDdiDelay DWORD "20" nothing either. Still crashing and blocking my games.

Edit: Windows update 1803 is now installing. I really, really hope this fixes it...

Okay. I think this is some good news...I recently installed 1803 Windows 10, every time I start it up I get a small window box telling me "System needs to be restarted again. Make sure all drivers is installed."

In Device Manager I get this in the Information box under the Events tab in both GPUs:

Device PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1198&SUBSYS_02701558&REV_A1\4&252f266&0&0010 requires further installation.
Device PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1198&SUBSYS_02701558&REV_A1\4&9116b12&0&0018 requires further installation.

At least the drivers aren't defective, correct?

The latest time stamp: 6/18/2018 6:25PM

Driver Management concluded the process to install driver nvcvi.inf_amd64_c4776d699bdf22cf for Device Instance ID PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1198&SUBSYS_02701558&REV_A1\4&252F266&0&0010 with the following status: 0x0.

Sigh..I uninstalled Malwarebytes and turned off Windows Defender and still the same behavior..I did however disabled Aero (Windows transparency) and then started up State Of Decay 2. I was given an extra 5 minutes of gameplay before it froze.

This is really frustrating. If I do RMA the Sager, this will be the third time. How is it that a card can go bad within a time frame between Oct. 11 to May 5 in the OEM's hands unless it's a motherboard issue. That was the first time I sent it an RMA due to motherboard.

Edit: Performed DDU, reinstalled the current driver for Nvidia and now I'm getting 70-102 FPS! o_0. But I'm still crashing. And the same nvlddmkm error in the viewer log.

Oh! Okay, I did some scouring and found out that nvlddmkm.sys is supposed to be in the System32/drivers folder. The Event Viewer also says it's missing. Anyone know how I can obtain that nvlddmkm system file!?

Edit: Okay, well I do have the file in FilesRepository folder..
Edit #2: Made a copy of the file and placed it in the "drivers" folder. Wonder if I should DDU again...still get the crashes and the error..

Edit: #3 Recently, now getting spams of WHEA-Logger PCI-Express Root Port. Guess I'll try to re-seat the GPU. Then if all else fails, RMA it again...If anyone has any other solutions, I would greatly appreciate it.

Alright! I managed to fix Black Desert Online's micro-stutters and freezes with this solution:

http://www.commentcamarche.net/faq/26313-plantage-de-nvlddmkm-sys-la-solution

I do however black screen and crash, most likely because I'm using an older stable drive. Haven't tested other games yet, but Black Desert has been stable with zero stutters and freezes. I used the solution above and refreshed Windows 10. BDO has been stable with 90-102FPS. I'll use DDU and update to the recent driver and crossing my fingers that it won't black screen crash.

Edit: Ah! the black screens were firewalls. I'll disable them before I launch the game.
