I am upgrading from a desktop to laptop. I do not really know what I am doing when it comes to hardware, so I thought I would post this. I will give my current desktop specs and then that one form that's pinned on this forum.

CURRENT SPECS:
Processor: Intel Core i5-4460 CPU @ 3.20GHz (4 CPUs)
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960
Monitor: Dell U2412M
Ram: 8GB

Here's the form on this forum it said to fill out:
1. What is your budget?
Nothing more than 2000, but closer to 1500.

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
From small, medium, or large, I am leaning on the larger side.

3. What screen resolution do you want?
My current res is 1920 x 1200, and I would prefer something at least a little above

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
I am looking for a desktop replacement laptop that I can also take with me on trips, car rides, etc.

5. How much battery life do you need?
Hopefully longer than 4-5 hours at the least.

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
This laptop is going to be for playing games. I want to play these games on mostly high settings.

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
Probably just photo editing, but it really isn't important.

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
My current C drive has 921 GB total. I would like something closer to a terrabyte. I don't know if computers can have SSDs, but that would be nice but not needed.

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.
Newegg, com, it seems they always have a sale

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?
Longer than 3.5 yrs, hopefully longer than 4 yrs.

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
This is what my computer says it has under it's DVD/CD-ROMS section:
HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GS40N. I'm going to assume it's the dvd drive on my desktop, which I dont really use at all.

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
The only gaming computer I've had was from Alienware, so I guess they are fine. MSI and razer are good too. There's no brand that I won't really buy from, unless the majority of their computers break down fast, or they have other problems.

13. What country do you live in?
The U.S.A.

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.
Again, this is meant to act as a new desktop and a portable laptop.

That's all. Thank you very much.

www.xoticpc.com they have a large gaming system selection. For a 1 TB drive, you would either need an expensive SSD or use a system with a dual drive setup. Your budget actually is OK for that large of an SSD, or at least a 500GB one that can still hold a lot of games at once. For your budget, something with a 1070 video card would be a good match. I would not go over a 1080 screen in a laptop, maybe 1440 for a 17" model.
