Nikko NP 500

I have just gotten hold of this Nikko NP 500 turntable.

It plays well but when touching the pickup it makes a sound as if it needs grounding.

Anybody knows anything ?

Turntables are very sensitive as the needle is under the pickup.

However if there is a strong noise when you touch the metal arm lightly it suggests the grounding from the needle to the arm may be loose ... check the wires are all attached to the needle firmly.

Audiophile here is our resident guru ... hopefully he will chime in with some better advice for you.
