Looking to get a projector. The way it's going to be mounted (suspended) i want minimum amount of cables. ie just power and video.
My local cable company does not provide cable box and cable goes from wall to tv with an internal tuner. Get digital and analog signals.
I'm looking for some type of set top box that will do the channel selections and have cable and hdmi input. With audio, hdmi, coax outputs.
That way i can run audio to my surround sound without having excess wiring running to and from projector.
I'm finding all kinds of splitters, over the air hd antenna/convertors but not what I'm desiring. Maybe I'm not searching the right terms.
Thanks

Don't think you'll find a cable tuner which has HDMI in. You're going to have to use a AV receiver for that. You plug multiple video intputs into the AV receiver, hook your speakers up to it, then run the HDMI out to your projector. Some of them even come with multiple HDMI out so you can plug it into a TV + projector. Otherwise you'll need a HDMI splitter at the output end.

An alternative to a cable tuner box with HDMI out could be an HDHomeRun. That takes HDMI in and converts it to streamed video on your network. You can then "tune in" to watch TV on a variety of networked devices, notably Amazon Fire TV, XBox, or Playstation. Check their website - I haven't used mine for several years (cable company encrypted all their...

Check their website - I haven't used mine for several years (cable company encrypted all their channels) so I don't know what's current. You could then run the HDMI out from this device, through the AV receiver, to the projector. Not as simple as a straight cable tuner box, but it'll let you also watch cable TV on your computer and tablets.
