I have this laptop for about four years. Recently it was hard for me to play much games because of thermal throttling. I have replaced thermal paste for cpu and gpu but the cpu (cpu is noticable in temp monitor thing) still thermal throttling at 102C. The fan also spin at fast as it can. Does this mean rip laptop for gaming?

To confirm if its only thermal throttling problem. When fps drops any controls i try to press wont register in my client screen (what i see on my screen) and the action continues like im still pressing the button until fps is back to normal. Is this because of thermal throttling on cpu?

Spec (i may forgot some laptop version letter for these hardware)
Intel i7 5500u
nvidia 960m
1tb hdd
12gb mem

Solution
things wear out after a while, especially if you stress them alot.
thermal paste is not the only component.

bearing from fans
the harddrive
copper phases
the battery

And I think even more I don't know about.
fix will be get a desktop if you want to play alot of games.
you get more peformance for the price and not everything is crammed on top of each other.
this means more room for good ventilation and more power for your pc.

I’ve play the same games before and the pc did not thermal throttle. Like company of heroes 2 few years ago barely have fps drops until mass ai units get stuck and now can’t even play due to desync from fps drop
