I have an hp15-f233wm. Screen stays black when I power on and caps lock blinks twice slowly followed by 2 fast blinks. What is

Solution
Try this...

1. Turn the laptop off (not sleep or hibernate but off).
2. Connect an external monitor to the laptop.
3. Turn on the external monitor.
4. Turn on the laptop.

NOTE: You may have to press an "external monitor" button. Could be the f4 button or a button with two monitors on it, for the external monitor to work.

If you can see fine on the external monitor, then your attached display, or the ribbon cable that connects it, are your problem.

If you can't see on the external monitor at all, or the problem occurs on the external monitor as well, then it is probably the graphics card/GPU that is the problem, which may require the motherboard be replaced.

Solution
on a lot of laptops and desktops if the bios is posting but hangs to a black screen with a blinking curse. the hard drive may have failed where the drive controller is locking up the sata chipset. if your laptop under warranty set up and rma., if it out of warranty and the drive can be pulled without pulling the laptop apart try it see if it boots to no os found message.

HP1215dx - I am not a tech guy, does conecting my flat screen tv via HDMI cable count as an 'external screen'? Why is this happening to so many HPs recently? Is there a bug?
I tried the windows and B key with no luck. 2 slow blinks of caps lock, pause, two more slow blinks (red wifi lamp stays steady). Hate to think I've lost all my shit but didnt expect an HP to crash like this. Oh, there is occasionally two faint beeps that sound, repeat 5-6 times then quits. No fan, no processor sound, but power is ok and unit is luke warm indicating SOMETHING is going on!
I was streaming a tv show when it just shut down last night.
