I have a senheiser Game one that is broken. From what I read it seems that the game one is basically a 598 at least from some threads I have read. I am looking at only open can headsets such as the 598 or 600 and prefer Senheiser.

My question is without purchasing a dac and amp will my Sound Blaster ZX sound card run the Senheiser 600's. Also is the Game one gaming headset basically the same as the 598's? and last but not least is the 600 good for gaming?

Thanks

I have both 598s and 600s among others. I still game with my 598s. The 600s are gloriously good and one of my favorites but the 598s have a much better soundstage and are better for gaming. Don't let that stop you from getting 600s though especially if you love music.

The ZX will power either headphone. The 598s are pretty easy to drive. The 600s will reward better equipment in the future though.

I don't know if the Game One is a rebadged 598 or not but they tend to be well reviewed for both gaming and music.

Edit:

I don't own them but the Massdrop x AKG K7XX is always recommended for gaming as it has both a huge soundstage and very good positional audio. It would be an upgrade to the 598s. The K712 Pro as well but you're doubling...

How are they in comparison to the hd 598's for pc gaming? I have read that the 598's have a larger sound stage than the 600's. But I am looking for something better than the game one's that I had.

the hd600 are open which allows for a lighter feel, I only earlier had DT 770, ATH M50x and now the philips fidelo x1s. So i cannot say from the basis of own experience. it will nevertheless be an awsome experience.

The Philips Fidelo X2 is also a great choice for gaming from what I've read. Bassy and a big soundstage.

HD 598 SR comes with a mic so its fit for gaming right out of the box. HD 598 is an open back headphone and sound better than Game one. I am using it for gaming and its very good, it has proper surrond sound effect due to spatial sound. Imaging and detailing are also superb and better than game one, being an open.

That said HD 600 is a better sounding headphone if you don't have a headphone amp get the HD 598. Get HD 600 250/600 ohm variant only if you have a headphone amp.
