I have a Dragon Pavilion HDX 9000 laptop and the video boards has developed a fault displaying odd charters on screen. Usually this is a video memory failure and sometimes the video processor. I do not have an oven to experiment heating it to temporarily fix the issue. Can anyone advice me on where to get one from please.

Solution

You can try using an external monitor and...
That's a laptop, you are not putting it in an oven unless you want to fully kill the system. There should be an Intel video chip in the system also, disable the ATI card and see if running only on the Intel one makes it work better. If that does not work, that is an old laptop, you can replace it with a newer one for about $100 for a used system in good shape.

Hi hang-the-9
Thank you for your response to my problem, when I mentioned the oven in my question, I did not mean the laptop but the small daughter GPU card that plugs into a connector. I am sorry to mislead you. When powering on the system the screen displays '$'signs 90% of the page and the system at stage is not responsive in a hung state. Please advise me on how I could choose the Intel adapter as my only choice to setup. I removed the GPU card and powered 'on' the system with nothing displaying as a result. The system has a VGA connector on the motherboard and I presume it must be driven separately from another Video CPU source on the motherboard.

Please help.

Kind Regards
Auriff

You can try using an external monitor and see if that works, if your system has onboard graphics. Not a lot you can do aside from try another video card. But would be as easy and probably as cheap to just replace that laptop.
