I am looking for what I'm sure is a unicorn --
I want a laptop that is Windows (I'm not an Apple person), powerful, and idiot proof. I will be a virtual worker, and will be traveling back and forth between China, Panama, and the US. I'm joining the ranks of digital nomads.

I'm pretty tech-stupid, but smart enough to know when I have a problem. My work will use Skype a lot, and -- most importantly -- will use Adobe Connect.

I need to buy a laptop that will last me for at least 5-7 years. Weight is not an issue, because I will be stationary for months at a time. Cost isn't a HUGE issue. I don't mind paying for quality. I'm not going to take the cheap route. A nice big screen is important. And uber-battery life. I asked a Digi-nomad group I'm in, and most of them recommend either Apple -- which I won't get -- or either an HP or an Asus. The Asus is getting a little more ground than HP.

What's the consensus here? I need something super functional, idiot proof, and powerful. Thanks in advance for recommendations. And if you could please also explain WHY you recommend it, that would help me -- a tech idiot -- learn.

Thanks for this --- Looks nice! But when I read the review in the link embedded in the article, it said that 2 of the cons were a so-so web cam and tinny audio. And both of those are absolute musts when you work online. I absolutely have to have quality audio and video. Any other suggestions?
