i had a laptop with 1080p screen and if i play a 4k video in it and connect it with my 4k tv and duplicated the screen. do i get 4k resolution in the tv????

No. A duplicated screen runs the same resolution on both displays. Your laptop may not have a 4K compatible HDMI port, so even with separate displays your resolution may be limited. Try configuring it as an extend display and see what resolution you can set.
