Hi,

I have a dell XPS 15 9560 (only 1 month old). It was working just fine yesterday and when I turned it on today I was taken to the dell assistant screen where I was told "no hard drive is installed".

I did some searching and found a thread explaining this can be fixed by going into BIOS and manually choosing the bootable file (apparently this issue has happened to many people when BIOS automatically updates). However, when I attempt this I get an error saying "no file system found".

To fix this issue I installed windows 10 to a flash drive and attempted to boot from there. Of course windows 10 does not detect any hard drive installed as well so I am at a loss for what to do.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

p.s. the thread I mentioned can be found here: https://www.dell.com/community/Laptops-General/No-bootable-devices-found-XPS-15-9550/td-p/5101242

As you are still within guarantee-timeframe, contact Dell-support. This is the safest bet, as if you screw up with whatever advice is given here, you have a real problem. Your Dell XPS 15 is an expensive machine, and you DESERVE support. ;-)

I have the exact same laptop and was present with a "No Hard Drive Found" message after a DPC_WATCHDOG windows blue screen. XPS's come with a one year warranty so I suggest you call Dell support (all the info they ask for is behind the XPS logo on the bottom). After running the diagnosis I sent it to Dell and the replaced the motherboard and the SSD. This seems to be a common issue with XPS's.
