The laptop won't start. I tried reseting it. The power led shows some life and the cpu's fan is spinning at max speed, but nothing else. The screen stays off. I can't go into BIOS. I tried turning it on without HDD and switched RAM sticks. Help me out please, what could be the issue. The battery seems to be charging.

Solution
The only way to know for sure if anything is working (and it is just the display that is the issue) is to try the external monitor. Especially if you are getting signs of life from the laptop.
Try this...

1. Turn the laptop off (not sleep or hibernate but off).
2. Connect an external monitor to the laptop.
3. Turn on the external monitor.
4. Turn on the laptop.

NOTE: You may have to press an "external monitor" button. Could be the f4 button or a button with two monitors on it, for the external monitor to work.

If you can see fine on the external monitor, then your attached display, or the ribbon cable that connects it, are your problem.

If you can't see on the external monitor at all, or the problem occurs on the external monitor as well, then it is probably the graphics card/GPU that is the problem, which may require the motherboard be replaced.

I've tried that.Actually I got a screen replacement for it and it would not boot again.I really need your advice guys.I forgot to mention that I can't even turn the laptop off,the only way to do that is to remove the battery and the AC adapter.
