TV Model: LG webOS UJ6200
TV software version: 04.70.10 (current)
Receiver: Sony 7.1channel STR-DH730
HDMI Cable: ultra pro premium hdmi

Only the left and right speakers act as basic speakers or surround sound. The other 4 (only 6 installed) are dead. Doing a surround sound test from the receiver gets all of them acting as they should. But PS4, and anything throught the TV is going through just those two.

Speakers installed correctly, brand new wired straight into the receiver.

Can't seem to get the tv to turn its "surround" option on.

Really appreciate any help you guys can give me.

Solution
make sure what ever you are watching is actually encoded with 7.1 surround sound. Most normal tv programs are not broadcast in surround sound, only stereo which is why it will always be coming through just the front left and right channels. If you engage 7 channel stereo (or equiv) the stereo signal will be split 7 ways - but will not be 'surround sound'. Try watching a dvd, blueray, or a film channel that you know is encoded with 7.1 and the receiver should give you the various surround sound options - depending on what the film was encoded with, and the TV options will become available too. Depending on the films age, it may only give 5.1 and Dolby digital options.

Hope this helps.
