Due to the new motherboard, the staff from ASUS Services told me to charge my laptop (ASUS X455L) only when the laptop is turned off. They did mention that my laptop has that.. built-in-battery, making it impossible for me to charge when the laptop is in use. Can I really take their word and just charge my laptop when it is not in use to save my motherboard or were they just mistaken? Since laptops are now built to withstand the use while charging.

Follow up questions:
1.) For how long can I use my laptop in a day? Is there like a limit to it like 8 hours or something?
2.) Any tips to prevent the motherboard incident again or any trouble? (First time laptop user)

That makes no sense to me. If it is under warranty, I would call back and make sure they give you an actual tech to talk to, rather than someone who isn't really one. Often they give you just customer service first. Even though you chose tech support. Happens a lot. The reason I say this is you don't want to mess with anything that is covered by the warranty, which would then void the warranty.

However, laptops can be charged just fine when turned on as long as the charger itself is working correctly. Often when the charger is going bad it will not charge the device when it is turned on, only when off.

Them telling you only to charge when off, while I get the purpose of charging when not in use or off (it is better to do so and less likely for you to do damage say to the power port, etc.), but telling you to 'only' use the charger when it is turned off and saying it is to keep the motherboard safe sounds really really off to me. Sounds fishy.

Again, I suggest you call back and speak to an actual real tech. This is if it is under warranty. Especially having just replaced the motherboard, it at least should be under warranty.
