Solved! Color cords plugged in but no color

Solution
Need some info about brands and models of what you are using and what connection type and cables you are using. From the no color issue, sounds like you are using component video with the three video cables and two audio cables, all you need to do is match the connections on the output to the input, they will have labels on them for what they are, and are often color coded to match.

Solution
Without any details I will guess that you have a composite video output (yellow RCA jack) connected to a TV that has a shared composite-component video input. You have to set the input to composite in the TV menu.
Did you also connect the audio output (2 RCA connections) to get sound into the TV?
