Samsung ARC stopped working

Hi, I have a Samsung TV, linked up via ARC to a Panasonic sound base everything was working fine until I unplugged the sound base and plugged a Firestick into the same HDMI ARC port. On finishing with the Firestick plugged the sound base back in again and I simply cannot get sound out of it anymore, seems like ARC channel stopped working completely as other connected devices now no longer turn on / off TV - anyone got any suggestions? I reset the TV settings, unplugged everything for a long period and reconnected but still nothing.

Solution
When you plug the Firestick into the HDMI ARC port you are essentially "disconnecting" audio.

HDMI ARC uses additional wires in the cable for audio.

Does your Samsung TV (model number?) happen to have a second HDMI port?

You may be able to use a different HDMI port and then use the HDMI ARC port for the wired connection to the sound bar via a HDMI ARC cable.

So the Samsung TV will not provide audio to any sound system - correct? Or is it that the Sound Base will not play audio from other sources.

I believe the former - please verify.

Did the Firestick easily but firmly fit into the Samsung HDMI ARC port? Or was some force needed to either insert or pull out?

Use a magnifying glass and bright flashlight to inspect the HDMI ARC port. Carefully look for signs of damage or maybe some debris inside.

Does the Firestick still work? Does it get overly warm or even hot when in use? (Check carefully.)

Thanks for the reply, the soundbase works fine I’ve connected it to another tv, as does the fire stick , I’ve not inspected the Hdmi arc port but I have plugged a dvd into it and that works fine but I’ll take a closer look as you have suggested , thanks

Yes the former the tv won’t output to the soundbase via the arc port, tried an optical cable and that works but then I can’t control everything via one remote
