My laptop won't start up.

So I just came home from school and I tried to turn my laptop on. It won't turn on. I was inspecting it and I found the keyboard to be kind of un-notched on one side, meaning it has been tampered with. My dad always does this type of stuff because he thinks I waste all my time on my laptop (Not true). He's not admitting of doing anything though. Whatever, let's just come to the point: It's not starting up. Whenever I try to turn it on, the light indicating that it's being charged turns on, but the laptop itself doesn't turn on. By the way, it's the G62 laptop from HP. So, yeah, any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If it's a laptop where you can take out the battery, take out the battery and let it sit without power for 10-20 sec. Then plug the power cord back in and see if it powers up, leave the battery off. If it powers up you can put the battery in.

If it doesn't, i don't specifically what it could be.
