I am desperate need of a laptop at the moment. I'm a single mother of 3 my husband died in a car accident a few months back. I am now their soul providers. I just found a job that will allow me to work at home as well as take care of my children at the same time. I need a laptop to be able to do so does anyone know of any charitable organizations that donate to someone in my situation? thank you

I can't directly answer your question, but be very very careful with online jobs: there's a lot that are scams, or which are otherwise illegal.

This is especially the case if they require you to hand them or anyone else money in any way, for example as an 'application fee', or if they send you money that you then send on to anyone else.

I volunteered for a company that recycled PC's to sell cheap to schools and the poor.
Community Computer Alliance is a nonprofit organization that provides workforce development training for individuals with Autism. Laptops are $90. I'm sure a place like that will give you a break.

Another source for cheap computers are companies that recycle corporate or educational accounts. They get hundred of older PC's at a time and wipe the hard drives, then reinstall Windows. The key with those places is to get a computer that they haven't worked on yet.

You will have to do some work yourself but you can get a PC for $50 or less. Once they touch it the price goes up. My local MicroCenter sells used Laptops starting at $150.
