so im a mechatronics engineering student and im looking for a laptop with the following specs.:
i7 hq processor
15.6"
at least 12 gm ram
im okay with 512 ssd but 1TB hdd is fine too as long as it has 128 or 256 sdd too
i'll be using programs as solidworks, autcad, and i'll be doing some programming too.
These were the ones i found:

Asus M580VD-EB76
15.6" Full HD (TN)
Intel Core i7-7700HQ Processor
16GB DDR4 RAM
256GB SSD+1TB HDD
GeForce GTX 1050 4GB
backlit keyboard

Price: $947.99

Dell Inspiron 7000 i7559

15.6" UHD (3840x2160) 4K TouchScreen (IPS)
Intel Quad-Core i7-6700HQ
16GB RAM
NVIDIA GTX 960M 4GB
1TB + 128GB SSD
Backlit Keyboard

Price : $929.99

They all have sort of the same specs, but which brand is better? which one will last longer or which one do you recommend?

I think it’s about the same. In terms of quality. Most laptop are built by similar factory with similar standards.

I think dell has slightly better customer support though.

Buy from Dell business if you can. Dell consumer customer service sucks. Have computers from both companies (they seem to be different entities) and the business side solves the problem while the consumer side keeps transferring you until you get fed up. I have an ASUS laptop as a backup and never needed service, but it is only used twice a month for backups.
I have also bought from Dell lease returns with terrific success.
