I routinely trip over my headset cord, and when I inspected the 3.5mm jack, it seemed slightly bent. I suspect my tripping has bent it, but I digress. The headset in question is a Logitech G340, and I am frankly stumped. I use the dual-3.5mm jacks, instead of the usb option, so usb input is not the issue. When I attempted to use the headset on my phone in place of my PC, the same issue emerged, so I am certain it is something to do with the headset. Thanks.

You have an open circuit on the ear that doesn't work.

Keep in mind that the conductor can be broken inside the insulation and you won't see it.

There are a few ways to go about this.

If the plug end looks all beat...I'd replace the plug...not for the plug itself...but good chance that wire is broke inside the insulation right near the plug.

Also I would try and disassemble the headset where the wire goes in to see if there is anything going on there as well.

Worse comes to worse...replace the whole cable if possible.

Other than that....it could actually be the headphones themselves.....but 9 times out of 10 it's not.
