Best processor for video editing under $500

#1 - You can get the following HP laptop with a quad core i5-8250u for $500, but it only has a 1366x768 resolution screen and 4GB of RAM. I don't recommend this laptop because you 4GB of RAM is really not enough. Buying a stick of 4GB RAM for a total of 8GB will cost around $40 bringing the total price up to around $540. You might as well look at #2...

#2 - Stepping up to $550 will get you the following Asus with the same i5-8250u CPU, but it also has a 1080p screen and 8GB of RAM. It also has very thin bezels around the screen which makes this 15.6" laptop closer to the size of a 14" laptop and it is light; weighing in at 3.7lbs.

#3 - The following $600 Acer laptop is the least expensive laptop that has an i5-8250u CPU and a dedicated nVidia mx150 GPU, it also has a 1080p screen and 8GB of RAM. If you used video editing programs that can take advantage of nVidia's CUDA cores, then the mx150 can speed up the editing process. I has a 256GB SSD rather than a 1TB hard drive the other laptops have. The SSD makes the laptop more responsive, but if you need more storage space, then you need to install a hard drive
