Problem: Vizio D43C1 only works with HDMI from dell xps laptop sometimes. Other times the tv displays no signal. And windows & Nvidia show the tv as an analog monitor

I know there are similar post about HDMI issues, however none of them seem to be the same as my issue.

Dell XPS running Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1 64 bit - i7 processor 2.0GHz
8 gig ram

Chrome cast always works with Vizio D43C1 HDMI port 1 and 2. No issue, plug it in, it displays.

Potential cause: Nvidia, Windows 7 and Intel Graphics all have settings and controls for resolution and multiple monitors. Maybe they are conflicting?

Odd things I have noticed. Laptop only has HDMI output, no VGA output, however, windows and nvidia are listing the tv as an analog/vga output/monitor.

HDMI was working with LG HDMI monitor no problem, have not been able to try again since issue started.

Yes, I have 3 hdmi cables. They all work. This one works. Currently it is working with said tv. Last night the tv would not display. All I have done since then is toggle from no second monitor to extend desktop display, which did not work. Then I turned off the computer, and turned it on again hours later when I woke up, and now the tv is displaying the extended monitor as intended....because it is in the mood.

The TV is not a smart tv. Do I need to update it's firmware via the USB port?

I believe it is some strange compatibility issue or an issue that my laptop has 3 programs trying to control multiple monitors and resolution. Nvidia settings and controls for multiple monitors and resolution. Intel graphics has settings and controls for multiple monitors and resolution. Windows 7 Ultimate has settings and controls for multiple monitors and resolution. All of them are a little different than each other.

Yes, just realized that this TV won´t ever get an update, which is probably the problem here.

Would try to boot your laptop with Ubuntu LIVE or similar (no installation necessary) and check if it works there

eventually disable the "CEC" feature for HDMI in the TV´s menu

The laptop is up to date? Drivers for chipset and graphics chip as well as the BIOS of it

No, the issues is with windows or nvidia. It only works sometimes after leaving everything connected and restarting for some unknown length of time..

NOT SOLVED.

If I use my work computer it works completely fine. If I don't disconnect my personal computer from the hdmi to the tv, it works fine for months, I can turn the computer off, put it to sleep, etc, still works. Right now, WON'T WORK, very frustrated.
