Hello,

I have a Dell Latitiude E5540. The screen occasionally works but then it slowly fades completely white and comes back with lines (hard to notice in pic but here: https://imgur.com/a/b4qPD)

I did connect to an external monitor and it works 100%. Ran tests and everything seems to check out (on board graphics, and dedicated graphics). Also, when I touch the screen it works completely fine on the external. Can press, drag, etc. I think that's called a digitizer and is working 100%.

I'm not sure where to go from here. A replacement LCD? Do I need a specific one? I want to maintain webcam and touch working.

Any insight greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Jimmy

Before buying a screen a couple of things come to mind, sometimes this can be the result of too much pressure on part of the screen like opening it while only holding one side and stressing the screen, some people have found success by lightly bending the LCD opposite to how they sometimes open it, VERY gently bending it a VERY little from opposite corners.

My best guess would simply be a bad display cable, I would try reseating the cable and making sure it is not routed over anything that is getting too hot.

Otherwise it is probably time for a new screen.
PS If you do go for a new screen I have always used screen county (they'll even exchange a wrong model if you mess up) anyway your would probly be...
