So I know the Ryzen+ RX Gpus have been getting popular in laptops. I'm looking for a laptop for writing and youtube use so video editing and such but can still game. I'm looking at the Acer Nitro 5 thats coming out in April but I was wondering anyone know if there are any other Ryzen + Polaris style laptops? I know there is the ROG one but that battery life is stupid and I'm not looking to drop that much. So any know if there are any others I might have missed?

Before we go on that Ryzen and AMD thing, youhave to make first a decision between battery live and performance.
If you want performance, those desktop replacement machines e.g. ROG laptops will have bad battery live, all of them with no exception.
Mostlyor in general, the weaker the laptop is the longer the battery live will be.
This is the reason why I went for PC and laptop solution.

Now, about Acer, I do not want to bad talk Acer products but I had only bad experiences with this brand. Mostly because, that their laptops are hot. Literally hotter than similar laptops from other brands. They also went broken faster than other brands due to heat. I would take other brands.
Acer laptops tend to be cheaper than from other brands with...

Acer laptops tend to be cheaper than from other brands with similar specs, this comes with reasons.

OK, now about the Ryzen and Vega stuffs, are you planing to get those Ryzen 5 with Vega as iGPU (2500U or 2700U) or normal e.g. Ryzen 5 1600+RX580?
If you want 1600+RX580, you can get this GPU only on desktop replacements like ROG. This will not have good battery stamina.

The Acer from reviews doesn't seem to be to hot about 55 C I just found the Ryzen 7 2700u and RX 560 to be a nice little combo even though a 570 would be a little nicer but still not bad. Personally I've only own HP laptops my whole life. I've seen other use Acer no problem so I though I give it a try and acers battery performance looks damn good. Personally I own a machine thats better than the ROG one but I need something for on the move and going out. It seems weird how these set ups like Acers aren't popular yet or maybe its just that new?

Acer as brand is not new.
The first Acer machine I have ever used was back then on Pentium 1 desktop.
The PC exploded literally without clear reason, thank goodness it just went to RMA.

In 2009, I bought a second-handed Acer laptop Intel T6500, it got so hot even after I cleaned the cooling system.
I still did learn my lesson and bought another laptop from Acer, this time it is something more powerful, an I7 2700mq laptop...I have the feeling I can fry an egg on that laptop.
After that, I decided no to buy Acer's product anymore.
The reason, why I bought those was because Acer offers much lower price or cheaper for similar laptop/PC than other brands...wel...the word "cheaper" seems to not come without reason.
