Hi guys, I'm looking to buy a new laptop I would like one with at least a terabyte hard drive and looking for 15 or 17 inch screen my budget is around £700 can stretch two more full stop currently I'm in the process of moving home and staying in rented accommodation while work on my new house is complete this is reason for a laptop I have one that is eight years old so it's time to upgrade

Going by your details, I've found these 3 machines:

From John Lewis, there's this £750 Dell:

Saveonlaptops have this £700 MSI:

And Amazon UK have this £629 ASUS:

The Dell is £50 over budget, but it comes with the larger 4GB 1050 GPU. Like the MSI below it's a gaming machine so battery life is virtually nil, and you have to supply your own external Blu-Ray disk drive. Overall the specs are pretty good - quad-core CPUs and GTX 1050 GPUs. The Dell adds an 8GB SSD partition to speed up boot times - the MSI relies solely on a mechanical drive. The Dell allows for serious gaming, while the smaller 2GB 1050 GPU in the MSI will require some adjustments to game settings. The MSI comes with an IPS panel which will improve portability much more than the other 2.

If you can make do with a dual-core machine, the ASUS Vivobook will offer significantly better battery life. It also comes with a built-in DVD drive. The 2GB 940MX GPU is designed for movie watching and fancy business presentations. I would consider the ASUS the one to get in your situation, but the MSI is a very attractive alternative.

Best of luck,
GreyCatz.

So is the DELL the best spect? can you find any wth perferbly built in blu-rays at best dvd drive ? I will be using this alot when not working on the place so a portable is a no for me (do have consoles but will be packed away) also battery life is not a factor? performce, gaming, movie watching etc are? thanks for the start :) if this helps, i can get deals through HP via work.

Look at the HP site and see what you like there with optical drives. For gaming you want something with a 1050 card that should be possible in your budget. For the business discount you usually have to logon to a special site setup for your company for the discount, do that and see what they have. Link some things you find if there are several, but should be easy to pick, if one has a faster CPU/Video card than another, get that one. You are probably going to have some compromises with the system in your price, you can get a good CPU but maybe not a solid state drive or a better quality screen, or a faster video card but slower CPU and no SSD, or an SSD but slower CPU and video card, etc...
