Crosley turntable to YSP-2500 soundbar

Anybody any experience of this. Theoretically I should be able to connect my turntable in to the AUX RCA jacks of my soundbar shouldn't I as the soundbar is classed as a powered speaker? Appreciate a phono pre-amp would give me much improved sound but I just want to listen to my record for now :) . I didn't want to waste money on a pre-amp that could be used for a better turntable in the nfuture.

Thanks

Don

Did you select the correct input on the soundbar?
If the Crosley has a line level output it has a built in phone preamp and should work with the soundbar.
If the Crosley is a record player rather than a turntable (no speakers in a turntable) then you may need to adjust the volume on the Crosley as well as the soundbar.

One job of a phono preamp is to apply a RIAA equalization curve so things sound right when plugged into a receiver's phono-in jacks, which expect this curve. Your Crosley though should have regular line-out which is what your soundbar expects. If you have to turn the volume of the soundbar up so high it hisses, then you could use a preamp to boost the line-level, but not a phono preamp.

Thanks BFG-9000.....Problem is I don't get any sound out of the soundbar. I would have expected something even if I had to turn up the volume to get a hissy, tinny something....Thanks for clarifying phono pre-amp VS pre-amp.
