Hello,
A friend of mine gave me an old (very old receiver, I think) and I would like to connect it to my TV. I have a set of speakers from a surround system 5.1. I spent all my Sunday trying to get it work but I couldn't. I'm completely new to this!
Please help :)
The Receiver I have is a Sony Str d611 it does not have HDMI or optical port. and my TV is Toshiba 32L 110U.
The TV has HDMI PORT AND OPTICAL PORT.

Thank you

That stereo only has left/right inputs, no multi-channel input options. You could get a toslink to RCA adapter like this -- https://www.amazon.com/Optical-Toslink-Coaxial-Digital-Converter/dp/B01DZXWHJA/ It could provide simulated surround sound, but compared to a true surround sound receiver it will lose quality.
