How do I get my rear surround speakers to play all the time but not in surround mode?

I have a Sony STR-DH550 5.2 4k Surround receiver. With my old receiver, I was able to make my rear speakers work all the time and I didn't use surround. I do that so I can hear the voices more clearly.

The problem with this new Sony receiver is that I can only use the optical out on my new 4k TV because it has no HDMI out for the receiver (except for the ARC, and I'm not sure it would serve as the output for all the other inputs, nor am I sure if it will actually give 4k sound).

So how do I get the optical input to give me sound out of all of the speakers even if it's not surround sound coming from the source?

More importantly, I want the voices from the center channel to come through on my back speakers. Is that possible?

What happens if you change to music mode? I noticed in the manual Music Neo 6 is a feature found on DH750. It's a shame because it sounds like that mode would have done what you wanted.

If theres no way to set your AVR to multi channel stereo even via sound mode, could you change the avr for the DH750?

Performs DTS Neo:6 Music mode decoding. Sources recorded in 2-channel format are enhanced up to 7 channels. This setting is ideal for normal stereo sources such as CDs.
