Samsung UN58H5202 Repair Issues

My Samsung UN58H5202 just one day did not turn on anymore. No red standby light. Nothing. So I googled and found some troubleshooting ideas. Standby Voltage on the power supply board was low at 1.5V. Went to buy a replacement board and the parts store said the new replacement board may only work for a few days because faulty LED backlight strips on my unit may cause the power board to burn out again. Anyone ever heard of backlight strips doing this? TIA!!

Haven't heard of it on this TV specifically but it does make sense.

The exact same thing just happened to me yesterday for the same model Samsung. A TV repairman who seemed very knowledgeable came and tested the supply board and confirmed that it was dead. He too said the same thing; replacing just the power supply was not enough and that the LED strips needed replacing also since they were drawing too much power for such a low end power supply board. He said the power supply replacement wouldn't last more than four hours. I'm curious to know if there are any cases out there that have successfully changed just the power supply without having to adjust energy levels or reduce operation times for fear of the new board failing again.
