Solved! Asus ROG Laptop

Solution
Could be overheating or a video card issue. When the system is on power it usually runs at a faster speed, more heat. Check your power settings in the BIOS and Windows, set them to max speed and test things again on battery. Check your temps in HWMonitor while gaming see how high they get.

Options for battery or wall power use would be in the BIOS and also in power manager in Windows. You may want to contact Asus since the system should not be crashing on load like this due to heat unless there is something wrong with the computer. 90 is not high enough to crash on a gaming laptop.

A system actually shutting off instead of crashing with a bluescreen or locking up does not sound like a driver issue. It's a gaming setup, not a basic home use system, it should be able to handle games. If you are OK with doing it, do a factory reset to defaults and then check something like 3DMark with it, if they say it may be a driver issue, they need to support their standard driver setup at least.
