I have a Lenovo Yoga 720 with a GTX 1050 and I7-7700k @ 2.80gHz 16 GB RAM. and would like to pair it with a 144hz monitor, but my laptop has no HDMI, display port, or VGA port. Just 2 USB ports. Would it be possible to use an adapter cable from display/mini display port into the USB and successfully receive 144hz?

Solution
Your laptop has USB-C (thunderbolt) connector.
Use adapter USB-C (thunderbolt) to Display Port adapter. Just check, if the adapter you're getting supports high refresh rates.
