No picture on Cable/TV mode on receiver unless PS4 (Playstation 4) is on

I have a Yamaha receiver with 2 HDMI inputs going into the back, one for the XFinity Cable box out HDMI cable, and the other for the PS4 HDMI cable going into the receiver. Then an HDMI wire coming out of the receiver HDMI out, and going into the HDMI input on the Samsung TV. So for the longest time, I would switch the reveiver from Cable TV to DVD/Aux(where the PS4 goes in) HDMI inputs, and it worked fine.

The problem started when I installed a new 2 TB HD into my PS4 and reinstalled the new OS so it would work.

The PS4 in DVD/Aux mode works fine, picture and sound work great.

The issue is that if the PS4 is off, I get sound, but no video in Cable TV mode, so I need to keep the PS4 on for the picture to work. I would rather not have to have the PS4 on when I watch TV to save energy, and prolong the life of my PS4. Also, and I know I can change this, but the PS4 is set to go into rest mode after an hour of inactivity. So we'll be watching TV, and the picture will lose reception when the PS4 puts iteself into rest mode, and the TV says, "no signal". Then we have to turn the PS4 on again to get the picture back again.

Why would the PS4 need to be on for the picture to get reception when it's a totlally different HDMI input/mode on my receiver?

I checked all over he interenet and couldn't find anyone else with this same problem. Please help with any ideas or solutions that you may have. This is extremely frustrating.

Thank you.

Dave
