Is it safe to buy a laptop with cracks

Hello,
I bought an hp laptop that had a small crack on the lid and it had a couple corners that were broken,

Did i make a mistake? The seller said that internally was perfect and it's working perfectly.

If it works then I would think that it would be fine, but if you bought because you wanted a new(ish) computer and spent money because the seller said it was perfect and not damaged then you where scammed, but if it was not too much money or he did not say that it was not cracked then you must of read it incorrectly.

Its always an risk to buy damaged goods.
If he proved that it works atleast on pictures or in description you shoulnd't be worried too much.

Hi, thanks for replies.
No it was on ebay, and the seller described it properly and showed all the pictures with the imperfections and told by message the that screen was smashed and he replaced it. I haven't received it yet what i'm worried about is that it may fail in the future

The disassembly procedure that geofelt linked to is not exactly the same for your laptop. For instance, the keyboard on yours is mounted under the top deck, so that part (not the keyboard) has to be pried off first, then the cabling to the keyboard detached.

I see thanks. However I actually took the whole base cover the other day and I was able to see the HDD and it's connections. Is it not necessary to remove the base cover to swap it? Also if possible could you tell me what kind of screwdriver I'd need

Are we talking about the laptop from the above ebay link that you just purchased?

Did you watch both the videos I posted? The second one shows how to replace the HDD.

A Philips #0 screwdriver should fit most if not all of the screws. A Philips #00 probably wouldn't be a bad idea to have, either.
