USB Microphone Not Picking Up Sound

My microphone often stops picking up sounds, but it is still detected by my computer.

I've been in voice calls often, and usually, my microphone works fine, picking up sounds, for the first few minutes. After a while, I notice that my microphone has stopped picking up sounds, even though my computer still recognizes the device still being connected. I think it's something to do with my computer since this doesn't happen when I connect to other computers.

I've noticed that when it stops picking up sounds, I can go to the "Recording Devices" tab and disable and re-enable the microphone, it works again, for a few minutes, before it stops picking up sounds again. But that fix is only temporary and very tedious.

Are there any settings on my computer that should be changed? Or is it something else?

Ah I see, unfortunately the Microsoft LifeCam NX-3000 is technically unsupported for windows 10 and using the win7 drivers has some known problems with audio specifically causing these intermittent issues and sadly one that may not be addressed. It has reported to work with win8 however that's not really a solution going forward. The only way to resolve the issue may be to get another mic to record audio.
Sounds like a driver issue, are you running windows 10? If so, did you recently have the forced 1709 update applied? Sadly this causes many driver problems espically audio. You can try removing the driver in device manger and reinstalling and see if that helps, you can also try force-disabling all other recording devices. Extreme fix would be a reinstall or reset of windows 10 which is sadly the only way to reset all the driver problems this update has.

I am running windows 10 with the 1709 update, but this problem was occurring even before I updated windows. I have reinstalled the driver and disabled all other recording devices. I don't think disabling other devices will work because I can see in the "Recording devices" tab that when my microphone works, the sound bars move, but when it doesn't, the bars don't move.

P.S. I forget to mention that the USB microphone I'm using is a Microsoft LifeCam NX-3000.

That might make more sense since the other computer I used is running on Windows 7... I wonder why Windows 10 can't support this microphone. Oh well...
