For some time now, a company called Hon Hai Presicion has repeatedly signed on and off my WiFi network. Are they a threat or are they merely testing and/or monitoring their components. Please advise.

What you are likely seeing is the router checking for firmware updates. Googling this topic will reveal that this is a fairly common thing and shows no indication of malicious intent.

Check you router settings, you may be able to disable the firmware update function (or its frequency) to change the observed behavior.
