ASUS Acer laptop with DVD-Super Multi DL drive will not play DVDs.

When I insert a DVD, I get this message:

Playback Error
An interface has too many methods to fire event from
0x80040209

Through Tom's Guide, I found 2 fixes. I tried the one I thought best, only to find out I had 17 errors and they would fix only one for free. Pushing to buy their product.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I found the offending post and it's possible the staff writer concerned didn't have any problems with it. I'll take it further internally and try to ensure that sort of product is plugged again.

There is never a need for any driver supplier because the proper ways of updating them are all within Windows systems, leading to th edriver the manufacturer intended. Have you sorted your DVD player problem>

In Control Panel>Device Manager, right click on he device and select Properties.then Driver>Driver Details and take note of the VEN for Vendor and DEV for Device then run an online search. That should take you to the manufacturer's own site; the safest place to find a driver.

Once again; sorry you were inconvenienced by using...

Driver Reviver.

When I tried to uninstall it, it came back offering me better deals at 50% off. And it also reminded me I had 17 errors. I believe I have uninstalled it - hopefully.
