I also just developed problems with not getting output sound from individuals speaking on a DVD movie. Sound is there for the intro to the move and background sound is there but there is very little sound for the actors. l guess I pushed a wrong button on the TV remote. I have a Panasonic HDTV Model TC50PX14 and a Panasonic DVD Home theater sound system SC PT 673. Can someone provide some help!! KR

Solution
TV has optical audio out. HTS has optical audio in.
Connect them with a toslink audio cable.
You may have to turn the optical output on and the TV speakers off in the TV menu.
Select the optical input on the HTS and select Dolby for your surround sound mode.
You should also connect the rear surround speakers to the HTS so you can get surround sound and the subwoofer for bass if you haven't done this already.

Found that I finally turned on the surround sound and I needed to connect a third center speaker in order to hear individual speakers on the DVD movie. Now have background sound on two side speakers and actors voices out of the center speaker.. Now have to figure out how to get all three speakers to work for the TV Set..
