When I hopped on my computer yesterday, I opened Chrome and noticed that Yahoo was hijacking my search engine, and anything I searched went to yahoo.

I went to the search engine settings and disabled yahoo, and what do you know, Yahoo still was hijacking my search bar. This is what keeps happening - https://gyazo.com/b8440e37826f71d880e346e862dd8dd0

I read some forums on this and figured it was a virus, so I checked Windows Defender, which said everything was fine. After that I downloaded an anti virus called malware bytes, I let it do a scan through my whole computer and it caught some malicious files with Yahoo in them. After this, Yahoo was still hijacking my browser, so I removed the anti virus from my computer. The day before, Google was my search engine and I don't recall ever downloading anything new ever since.

I tried some other methods, like blocking Yahoo cookies, re downloading Chrome, and restarting my computer, but nothing had an effect on it. Please help me remove Yahoo from hijacking my search bar. I do recall playing a
semi-suspicious game called surviv.io the week before, but that couldn't be it because thousands of people play it, including famous YouTubers.

Here are my recent downloads - https://gyazo.com/208671b3df65d2c1c1a54b0f159b6d7c
(Anything before mid February was before I built my new computer)

So, you tried talking nice. You can instead delete that option by removing it from the list.

Click on the Settings triple bar icon and then click on Settings. Click on Manage Search engines and make your change.

I had the same problem recently, and find it quite frustrating. I am also dismayed that a tech leader of yesteryear can stoop so low today and try insidious methods to install on computers. Shame on Yahoo!
And thanks to you guys for the solutions - they worked for me.
