I have an Asus F5VL laptop and I decided to mount a SSD to see the difference between this and my old HDD. In my old BIOS there is no AHCI. After I mount it was descovered without no problem and I intalled Windows 7 Ultimate very easy.
My questions are:
Doing in this way are there any limitation of SSD's speed?
Are there any problem for SSD's life?
Thanks!

If there is, it doesn't matter, since you have limited bios options and there isn't much else you can do about it. I'd recommend that you go into disk management in the administrative options section and check the disk properties to see if it actually IS in AHCI mode, which likely it is anyhow.

It will not affect the SSDs life either way as far as I can see.

Not sure what good that will do though. Unless you are going to buy something newer that better supports the speeds of that drive, knowing what speeds it is running at does not offer you any means of improving the situation. It is what it is, unless you are going to upgrade AROUND the SSD. There is certainly limitations to what some hardware is capable of, and knowing that isn't going to change anything.
