Two weeks ago, my Linux based os detected that the last mount time was in the future, meaning that the cmos battery was dead. so yesterday i opened the laptop and replaced the battery, then it booted just fine into bios. so i changed the date and turned on UEFI, (no HDD inserted to the laptop yet) and powered it off. a couple of minutes later i wanted to get into bios again and then it didn't work. blank screen (no backlight) and the power LED turned on, then 30s later the laptop shut down. since ten i have tried everything. booting without a battery(AC only), battery only, no cmos, no RAM, no network adaptar, i have dully disassambled the laptop, and replaced the thermal paste. even reseated the CPU. i dont know what to do!
thanks in advance!

UPDATE!
CPU is REALLY hot, and the fan wont spin up to cool it.

maybe bios or ec got corrupt somehow when you removed cmos battery, this is rare though. Check mothjerboard closesly that nothing is shorted, like screw fallen or bent pins of ports example.

I think its best to give up at this point and buy a new laptop. this laptop is 9 years old and has seen alot throught its life. also my ethernter port was broken' and two usb ports/3.

ill just give up. thanks anyways!

also the bios couldnt have gone corrupt by the battery replacement, because it worked just after...

get usb stick, smaller size is better like 1-4gb max. download latest bios to your model from asus site. unzip and rename file to K42FAS.BIN
Format your usb drive to FAT , after that put this renamed file K42FAS.BIN to your usb . plugin your usb to main usb ports on the motherboard ( right on motherboard not on some extension board) . remove battery and power cable. press and hold CTRL + HOME buttons without power cable and battery plugged, plugin charger cable with still holding ctrl+home buttons with your other hand, keep holding. If this dont work and it wont boot automatically then keep holding ctrl + home buttons and plugin cable + press power button

you can try also hold power button + home + ctrl (try both ctrl buttons on keyboard) when plugging in power cable
another one is f2 + fn and fn + esc. Try rename file to AMIBOOT.ROM and try again
