Connect AUX only 2.0 speakers (Edifier E25) to a subwoofer and PC system

Hi,

I have a pair of Edifier Eclipse E25. They are very good looking and I like them a lot but I find the bass lacking.

I want to buy a subwoofer (probably the Polk Audio PSW10), and a DAC or external soundcard to set up a 2.1 system. The sound source would be from my PC (which has a crappy B250 motherboard with onboard soud).

The problem is the Edifier E25 only has Aux in. A lot of DAC that look at only have 1 line of RCA outs. I'm clueless how to connect both the E25s and the sub to a DAC.

Hence, I would appreciate if you could suggest a solution for this. My budget for both the sub and the audio interface if needed is around $500.

So being you want to run two powered speakers and a powered subwoofer...come out of the stereo 1/8" jack in your soundcard or whatever and split it.

Take one half of the spllt and split it into left and right and send it to the speakers.

Take the other half of the split and combine the left and right channels with a mixer and send it to the sub.

Thanks for your suggestion. I am still a little confused My right speaker powers my left and has an AUX in. Is the right setup?

1) I buy a DAC. For example the Audio Engine D1. It connects to my PC via USB and has RCA out
2) convert the RCA to AUX using this cable: RCA to AUX Male to 2-Male
3) split the AUX to 2 channels using this: AUX splitter
4) Connect 1 aux to my Edifier 2.0 speakers (has only 1 AUX in)
5) conver the other AUX to RCA using this cable: RCA to AUX Male to 2-Male
6) connect the RCA to my Polk Audio Subwoofer

Are these the right steps to follow?

OK...IF your right speaker powers your left it's even simpler because that AUX in is stereo.

So do exactly what I said except leave out "and split it into left and right".

I am going to go through your steps next.

What you have is basically right except you have two male 1/8" stereo plugs in that cable setup....one needs to be female....and one female on this

probably needs to be male to go into your speakers (just make sure your males and females are right....but you have the right idea)

And another thing....you are going to wind up with two RCAs for the subwoofer and this is fine if the subwoofer accepts two channels but some only accept one....thus the mixer I mentioned....otherwise you will only get one side from the subwoofer.
